How To Program Dish Remote To TV With/Without Code?

No matter what remote model you are using, this is the destination for you if you are looking for a tutorial on programming a Dish remote to your TV with or without code. As you know we can use our Dish receiver remote as a universal controller that can be used to work with satellite receivers, DVD players, smart and non-smart TVs, etc.

Many updates come with the newer latest model remote like voice assistance, finder feature, etc, and the programming methods are different for new and old models.

The dish remotes 54.0, 52.0, 50.0, 40, and 32 are the advanced models you can pair with your TV Via on-screen prompts after connecting your Hoopper receiver to the TV.

Programming new dish remote models to TV

Remember:- For models 40, and 32, there is a MENU button on the top. Press on it to get the Settings option. Then select the Remote control tab to complete the pairing. I’ll share the PDF user manual at the end of this tutorial.

How to program Dish remote without codes?

If you are using very old model remotes other than I mentioned above and can’t get the right code for your TV, then you can apply the automatic code search method for pairing to your TV or any other devices. It’s also called the power scanning method. Here, the remote itself scans through the code database and applies the right code for the TV.

  • Turn on your TV
  • Point your Dish remote to the TV
  • Press and hold down the device button (Here TV), until all the device mode buttons light up
  • Release the button and you see all of them blink
  • Press and release the POWER button on the remote
  • The device keys turn blinking to solid lighting
  • Press the UP button and this sends the first code to the code library
  • In a regular interval of 3 – 5 seconds, press the UP button until your TV turns OFF
  • Once the TV is turned OFF, you can confirm it received the right code
  • Press the # button to register and save the code
  • The TV mode button will blink many times
  • Test the remote to the device whether it controls all the features

What to do when my Dish remote not working?

If the setup is not properly done, your remote won’t work perfectly with your device. I suggest you pair the remote manually by entering the code rather than the automatic code search method.

If you are using new models like the 5X series, then make sure you follow all the prompts properly when setting up through the settings panel.

Alternatively, check the batteries inserted whether both of them have sufficient charge on them.

If none of the above-given solutions won’t work, we should reset it.

How to reset the Dish remote?

For a soft reset, remove the batteries. Wait for a few minutes like 2 – 3 and then re-insert the batteries into the compartment. Then re-program properly.

If you want to hard reset your Dish remote,

  • Press SAT on your remote
  • Press System Info on the receiver
  • Press SAT again
